Kaleidoscope Guidelines
These guidelines are set forth to assist the Mayo Families' Connection in making fair and consistent decisions regarding the content of our monthly publication, The Kaleidoscope.
The purpose of MFC is to welcome and assist new and present members by providing opportunities for personal enrichment through social and recereational functions, informative programs, philanthropic projects, and interactions with the commnity. The organization shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, creed, sex, nationality, or sexual orientation.
1. The Alice Mayo Society, the Mayo Fellows' Association, and the Medical Alumni Center financially support Mayo Families' Connection. As such, these are the only organizations, in addition to MFC, permitted to advertise in The Kaleidoscope.
2. Activities/Announcements must support the mission of MFC.
3. Activities/Announcements of a religious or political nature do not support the Mayo CLinic's policy of inclusiveness. Thereofore, they may not be included in The Kaleidoscope.
4. Businesses of any nature may not be advertised in The Kaleidoscope.
5. Advertisements should convey who, what, where, when, and include contact information.
6. Volunteer Board Members are responsible for submitting advertisements for event planning and participation.
7. Special Interest Group Leaders are responsible for submitting advertisements for their specific activities.
8. Spouses and significant others of residents, fellows, research fellows, and medical school students may submit advertisements for special activities if the activities support the mission of MFC.*
9. Advertisements must be submitted to the editory by the end of the 12th day of every month.
10. Advertisements that repeat must be submitted for publication on a monthly basis.
11. The editor has the responsibility to make a publication that is informative, accurate, appealing, and easy to read.
12. The editor must decde if The Kaleidoscope will use 4 or 8 pages.
13. The editor has the right to edit or omit advertisements based on the availability of space in The Kaleidoscope.
14. If omissions are necessary, the editor will then omit advertisements in order of importance, then in reverse chronological order of receipt.
15. The editor must prepare The Kaleidoscope using a publishing program and submit it to Mayo for printing and distribution.
16. The editor must distribute The Kaleidoscope and other pertinent information to the Webmaster.
17. The editor must keep paper and electronic copies of all issues of The Kaleidoscope.
18. Concerns and/or complaints regarding The Kaleidoscope should be directed to The Kaleidoscope editor and/or the MFC President.
